Okaloosa County Public Transit Reveals New System Name
[Fort Walton Beach, Fla.] – Okaloosa County public transit representatives officially announce the local public transportation system name as Emerald Coast Rider (EC Rider). Formerly Okaloosa County Transit (OCT), the name change and rebrand will be pioneered by the new operator, Maruti Fleet & Management, who was recently awarded a five-year contract to manage the system. The Maruti team will kick-off planned improvements by giving the system a complete brand overhaul.
“This name change and system rebrand directly reflects the future growth and improvements that our team has in store for this great service to the Okaloosa community,” said Eduardo Carrion, Vice President of Maruti Fleet & Management. “The Maruti team constantly strives to provide great service and care to our patrons, and our team is excited to transform Emerald Coast Rider into a household name the community can trust for years to come.”
Maruti’s vision for the system not only includes the name change and full rebrand, but also increases in service and frequency in the future. The team plans to continue providing great service to the Okaloosa community, while also implementing improvements that will move the system in the right direction.
“This name change and total rebrand really embodies the new direction that the system is heading,” said Vikki Garrett, Planner at West Florida Regional Planning Council and staff to the Okaloosa-Walton Transportation Planning Organization (TPO). “I’m eager to see what kinds of changes and improvements Maruti has in store for Emerald Coast Rider and public transit in Okaloosa County.”
